Restore Your Smile With NHS Bridges

NHS Bridges

  • Replace multiple missing teeth
  • Prevent tooth loss from affecting your day-to-day life
  • No more difficulty eating or jaw ache
  • Take back the freedom to smile again

Losing teeth can be a life-changing experience that negatively impacts diet, confidence and facial structure.

Our range of dental Bridges allows you to eat and chew with confidence and deliver a healthy, confident smile.

A dental bridge is a number of connected teeth made of ceramic or porcelain. These teeth are attached to a gum-like palette, which sits comfortably in the gap missing teeth leave behind.

If it’s your first time getting a bridge, or if you wish to renew an old prosthetic, our team at Astley Dental Centre is here to make sure your new dental bridge is completed to the highest standard.

Bridges from Astley Dental Centre fall under Band 3 – with a cost of £282.80 to cover this treatment.

Your Treatment Journey

Step 1

First, your dentist will carry out a full dental examination of teeth and gums to assess the overall health of your mouth. They’ll also determine the size and shape of the bridge.

Step 2

For traditional bridges, your dentist will prepare the teeth on either side of the gap by filing them down so the bridge can attach to them. This procedure is not painful.

Step 3

Once the area is prepared and your unique bridge is created, your dentist will fit the restoration. Dental bridges can last up to 15 years if properly looked after.

More about NHS Dental Bridges

A dental bridge is one or more teeth expertly crafted to resemble the rest of your teeth, using ceramics or porcelain. These teeth are connected and attached to a metal bridge.

On either side of these replacement teeth are crowns, which cover your natural teeth on either side of a gap, securing the whole bridge in place.

Because of this, the enamel on these teeth must be filed down. If you’d prefer not to have the supporting teeth filed down, at Astley Dental Centre we do offer both NHS and private options, so you can discuss an implant-supported bridge with your dentist if you’d like. This implant-supported bridge doesn’t affect the remaining teeth and instead requires a replacement root (implant) to be attached to the jaw for a secure fit.

Bridges are an effective way to replace multiple missing teeth at a time and are a viable alternative to implants and dentures.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between an implant and a dental bridge?

A dental bridge is one or more teeth connected together, to replace multiple missing teeth at a time.

A dental implant involves the fitting of a replacement root into the jaw, then a replacement tooth (crown) onto the replacement root. Bridges can be designed to attach to nearby teeth or to fix onto an implant.

Are implants or dental bridges best?

Dental implants are excellent at restoring a single missing tooth due to its strength and longevity.

Implants can be used for multiple missing teeth, but require surgery and a longer recovery time. Dental bridges are a great alternative to replace one or more missing teeth while being less invasive.

How long does it take to recover?

Traditional dental bridges have no recovery time, but implants supported bridges do as the fitting of the initial implant involves surgery.

What happens when I finish my treatment?

Once your traditional bridge is fitted, there’s no recovery time as no invasive procedures are involved. There will be a period of adjustment of 1-3 weeks while you get used to your restorations.

You may be advised to eat softer foods at first, before gradually moving on to tougher foods as you grow accustomed. You’ll be invited back for a review to see your progress and if you have any further questions or concerns.

Great experience!! They have new(ish) receptionist who is very helpful and welcoming and the dentist is excellent. Dentist did everything he could to save my tooth, and managed to fill it. He is very patient and professional and explains everything simply even drawing on a white board to help. I would definitely recommend.

I recently used this dental practice, and I must say, the quality of service was superb. I don't normally post reviews, but in this instance you've got to give credit where credit is due. The dentist was very considerate (I get quite nervous with dental work) and talked me through everything. The quality of the work was top notch as well. Excellent service around and l wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
