Your Treatment Journey

Step 1

First, your dentist will examine your mouth, gums and any remaining teeth to make sure they are healthy.

Step 2

Once this is done, they will take an impression of the gums and teeth to make sure your dentures are built to be a perfect fit. These impressions will be sent off for your dentures to be designed.

Step 3

Once your dentures are created, you’ll attend a follow-up appointment to have your dentures placed. During this session, your dentist will advise you on aftercare and maintaining your brand-new dentures.

More about NHS Dental Dentures

Dentures are dental prosthetics designed for patients who are missing teeth. They enable the wearer to feel more carefree when eating and speaking. Dentures can provide a surge in confidence without pain, surgery or recovery times, getting you back out there sooner rather than later.

The replacement teeth are set in a removable base made of durable plastic which bonds perfectly with your mouth thanks to highly accurate, modern impression taking and sophisticated manufacturing techniques.

These teeth are designed around your mouth, your facial structure and your skin tone to ensure a natural look.

If you feel like full or partial dentures might not be the right solution for your missing teeth and you’d prefer something more permanent, Astley Dental Centre is a provider of both NHS and private dental treatments, so you can always mention implants or implant-supported dentures at your consultation to find out if you’re suitable.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if I need dentures?

If you’re missing several teeth, you may notice it’s difficult to speak clearly, eat the food you want to eat and smile without hesitation.

These are signs that you may need dentures to achieve a better quality of life.

Do I need a denture if I still have some teeth?

A partial denture, a bridge or an implant are a few options to consider if you still have some of your natural teeth remaining.

If you’re only missing one tooth, an implant is most likely – a few missing teeth in a row may require a bridge, and many gaps in different places might benefit from a partial denture. These are some of the things you’ll discuss with your dentist at your consultation.

Will a denture affect my speech?

Some people can experience an adjustment period when speaking with new dentures, especially if they’re used to living with missing teeth.

This adjustment period shouldn’t last long. Dentures are specifically made to be a perfect size and shape for your mouth to make sure it doesn’t take long to get used to them.

How long do dentures last?

Most people tend to need new dentures after 7-10 years so if this applies to you, it might be time to make an appointment and see if you need a new one.

Great experience!! They have new(ish) receptionist who is very helpful and welcoming and the dentist is excellent. Dentist did everything he could to save my tooth, and managed to fill it. He is very patient and professional and explains everything simply even drawing on a white board to help. I would definitely recommend.

I recently used this dental practice, and I must say, the quality of service was superb. I don't normally post reviews, but in this instance you've got to give credit where credit is due. The dentist was very considerate (I get quite nervous with dental work) and talked me through everything. The quality of the work was top notch as well. Excellent service around and l wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
