Your Treatment Journey

Step 1

First your dentist will examine your teeth and gums to assess the overall health of your mouth. During this you can discuss your ideal smile with your dentist to make sure the veneer fitting suits your smile and facial structure. If you wish to close any gaps between the teeth on either side you can discuss this too.

Step 2

Your dentist will take impressions of your teeth to make sure the veneer is a perfect size and shape for your other teeth. When you’re happy with the results and happy to go ahead, your dentist will prepare the tooth to be treated.

Step 3

A thin layer of enamel will be removed from the tooth to create a base for the veneer to be bonded to. This is a painless procedure to make sure the veneers do not make your teeth larger than normal and get in the way. Your new veneer will then be cemented onto the prepared tooth.

Should I get a crown or a veneer?

Your dentist will have this conversation with you at a consultation, but if the majority of your tooth is healthy and strong with some surface damage, your dentist will most likely recommend a veneer.

If your tooth is more deteriorated and not as strong, a dentist may recommend a crown because it replaces the entirety of the visible portion of the tooth.
